more information

#deposit

A £100 deposit is required to secure your place in a Chance2Dance event. This is refundable on successful completion of the event, which includes bringing the minimum number of performers.

#changing areas

Dancers should arrive at the venue with any detailed hair and make-up already done. Your dance school will be given access to a changing area 15 minutes prior to your performance and up to 15 minutes after your performance. Dancers should be ready at the side of stage at least 5 minutes prior to your allocated time. There will be no announcements to tell dancers to go backstage; it is the responsibility of the dance school to inform their dancers of all timings they need to know. A full running order will be sent to the dance school in advance.

Any belongings can be left in changing rooms during your performance but must be taken with you before and after. There will be no allocated spaces for you to leave any bags during the day when you are not performing. CHANCE2DANCE cannot take any responsibility for any belongings left on site at any time. There will be security in the backstage area, but we would suggest that you ask a chaperone to stay in your changing room whilst your dancers are on stage.

#timings

Back-to-back performances will take place on the Showcase Stage throughout the weekend. Exact performance times will be sent out around 2 weeks prior to the event.

You may indicate which day you would prefer to attend, be performance times will be allocated at our discretion, so your dancers should be available for the whole day.

Saturday 2nd december: 9am-9pm
Sunday 3rd December: 9am-5pm

SatURDAY 2nd: 9am-9pm
Sunday 3rd: 9am-6pm

#the stage

There will be NO wings at the side of stage. There will be a back cloth and dancers will be able to move from one side of the stage to the other behind this if absolutely necessary, but we would advise that this is kept to a minimum as it will involve going down some stairs.

There will be an entrance/exit at the back corners of the stage. Dancers will be expected to enter on stage left and exit stage right, unless choreographed otherwise.

Performance area:
12m wide x 9m deep

#costumes

#costumes

++

++

We want you to have as much flexibility as possible with your costumes, but we would ask you to remember that you will be performing to a family audience so costumes should be suitable for all ages.

There will only be a limited amount of space at the back of stage for quick costume adjustments and shoe changes if necessary, but full costume changes are not permitted at the back of stage due to this being a holding area for other dance schools.

#props during
Performances

Due to the large number of performers and performances, we must limit the use of props. We must be made aware of any large props well in advance of the event by email at shows@chance2.dance. Any scenery items larger than 3ft by 3ft must be cleared by our production team prior to the event and must be treated with ‘fire check’ according to health & safety regulations.

Hand held props will be allowed on the day, but a chaperone should be available at the back of stage to collect any hand-held props from the performers throughout the routine. The use of any props or substances that may hinder the safety of the stage (e.g. glitter, feathers, etc) is prohibited without prior consent from Chance2Dance.

#LICENCING & CHAPERONES

CHANCE2DANCE will apply to local council(s) for the necessary performance licences required for your dancers to take part in the event. The information we require for the dancers will be collected when dancers purchase a performer ticket, therefore all dancers must comply with the 6-week deadline. We will need you to provide us with details of your chaperones (name, gender, address, contact number, DBS number and chaperone licence where applicable).

The recommended ratios are 1 chaperone per 12 children for 12-16 year olds and 1 chaperone per 8 children for 5-12 year olds. Depending on the local councils where your dancers reside, you may be required to bring registered chaperones rather than supervising adults to comply with licencing regulations (for dancers of compulsory school age).

#performances contd.

Dancers can perform in one or all of your performances based on your preference. Please note that there must be a minimum of 15 dancers in each performance piece. We would advise that the stage can accommodate a maximum of 45 dancers at a time, but this will depend on the type of dance your are performing and your spacing, etc.

We would recommend that you determine the maximum number of dancers you can fit on the stage based on the dimensions of the stage. We welcome all styles of dance and all ages and abilities. It is the variety of performances that we pride ourselves on and keep the shows interesting and exciting.
